AWS Executive in Residence
Former Global CIO, Western Union

Ryan brings at least 15 years of industry experience and at least eight years as an Amazonian. After leaving AWS to serve as Global CIO of Western Union, he returned as an AWS Executive in Residence, bringing practical experience applying Amazon practices inside a 150-year-old global financial services company.

He has led large enterprise transformations across healthcare, energy, insurance, financial services, aerospace, and pharmaceuticals. His work spans cloud migration and modernization, data strategy, generative and agentic AI, technology investment, operational resilience, organizational design, and leadership development.

Ryan is passionate about aligning technology strategy with business objectives, then inspiring and empowering organizations to execute with excellence.

Cukic

Professor and Dean
College of Computing and Informatics, UNC Charlotte

Dr. Bojan Cukic is a Professor and Dean in the College of Computing and Informatics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He previously served as Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Student Success, Chair of the Department of Computer Science, and Interim Executive Director of the UNC Charlotte Data Science Initiative.

His research interests include biometrics, software engineering with an emphasis on verification and validation, and resilient computing. He often collaborates with industry and co-founded NexID Biometrics Inc.

Dr. Cukic is passionate about empowering UNC Charlotte students to connect, innovate, and lead the future of technology.
